Background
The Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program (EOP) is a leader in advancing job quality and economic justice for low- and moderate-income Americans, with a focus on how race, gender, and place intensify economic inequality. Recognizing the growing need to centralize and better organize its resources on job quality—especially in the wake of challenges amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic—EOP established the Job Quality Center of Excellence. However, the existing interface failed to effectively serve its diverse audience, with job-quality information getting lost among a sea of content instead of being easily accessible to practitioners, advocates, and policymakers.
EOP’s primary goal was to create a stand-alone website for the Job Quality Center of Excellence that enhances user experience and accessibility, making it easier for users to find and utilize job-quality resources. Achieving WCAG 2.2 Level AAA compliance was crucial to ensure the site was accessible to all users. Additionally, the site needed to be flexible enough to support future growth while staying true to EOP’s brand identity and mission of economic justice.

Results
WHITE64, in collaboration with EOP, crafted a bespoke WordPress platform for the EOP Job Quality Center of Excellence. This comprehensive project involved creating and migrating over 300 resources and tools, culminating in a WCAG 2.2 Level AAA compliant website. The site seamlessly blends aesthetics and functionality, delivering a modern, mobile-optimized experience that effectively showcases the breadth of job-quality resources and tools. Its intuitive architecture and design system ensure effortless navigation through a vast repository of information. By fostering a thought-provoking, inclusive learning environment, the website not only strengthens EOP’s mission but also solidifies the Job Quality Center of Excellence as a leading authority.
